(ATF) In a series of speeches during the ‘Two Sessions’ – China's annual party meetings, President Xi Jinping laid out his thoughts on progressive national reforms.
Xi’s full list of titles include General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, President of the State, and Chairman of the Central Military Commission.
General Secretary Xi Jinping discussed the issue of corruption when he participated in the deliberations of a delegation from Inner Mongolia.
"In the past two days, I saw a report from the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Committee of the Communist Party of China to the Party Central Committee, which is 'On the Special Rectification of Illegal Issues in the Field of Coal Resources'," Xi said.
"Being an official of the Communist Party, being a public servant of the people, using national resources to engage in bribery, to engage in power and money transactions, this account is always to be calculated," Xi Jinping said loudly according to People’s Daily.
Xi Jinping pointed out that since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, although historic achievements have been made in building a clean government and fighting corruption, the situation remains grim and complicated.
In other matters, Xi called for more respect for health workers. He pointed out that the majority of medical workers are the guardians of people's lives and health. It was necessary, he said, to vigorously promote the great anti-epidemic spirit.
In recent times there have been increasing attacks on medical personnel by aggrieved people.
Xi also indicated that women's working rights should be honoured.
“Women can hold 'half the sky'," he said, quoting Chairman Mao.
He also said there would be a crackdown on illegal and criminal acts that infringe on women's rights and interests.
